Here we have an interesting collection of quite old ethnic-style oval dZi beads from the Himalayan mountains of Tibet and Nepal – believed to promote luck, happiness, honour and longevity.
Often dZi beads are made with agate stone – but in this mixed collection the dZi beads measuring between 12-15mm, the beads comprise both agate and carnelian, which make these beads quite distinctive after an intense process of dyeing and heating.
Designs include one and three-eye dZi’s, skins, stipes and insects.
And as folklore claims, these beads are both heavenly and spiritual, as well as tribal and ethnic in every sense.
They are handmade beads which have been crafted by the nomadic people who are native to the high altitude regions of the Himalayas.
And there’s no question they can be used to create amazing ethnic-inspired statement jewellery items such as necklaces, bracelets or an ankle bangle.
These beautiful and unusual beads would make a wonderful addition to your jewellery-making box of special beads.
The beads provide lots of potential for creativity for those artisans with a bent for creating amazing Tibetan-inspired ethnic style or statement jewellery.
The beads are often used as currency when trading for goods.
The 15 beads in this collection weigh in at about 55 grams.
All our Tibetan beads contain a decent 2-3mm top-drill hole which makes them suitable for threading round leather, Tigertail or craftline (similar to fishing line).
