A Truly Unique Bead Collection
When Marius and Rose were unable to sell their much-loved store
as a going concern, they made the bittersweet decision to close the doors of their beloved bead emporium after almost 20 years in business. Rather than let their legacy of Margaret River Beads fade, they packed up their treasured stock
and launched new online store margriverbeads.com - named in honour of the iconic shop that had become the destination for bead
lovers from far and wide.
At its peak, Margaret River Beads was arguably one of Western Australia’s best-known bead stores, welcoming customers from 2002 until the end of 2019. (Pictured above are images of the
original shop)
Together with its sister store, Broome Beads, the two shops showcased an
extraordinary collection of more than 6,000 types of beads and findings sourced around the world, alongside Rose’s renowned handmade jewellery creations. For beading enthusiasts, artisans, collectors and curious visitors alike, the stores became must-visit destinations - home to two of the largest and most diverse collections in the state.
But, as a wise scholar once said, “All good things must come to an end. ” After devoting the ‘noughties’ and the ‘twenty-tens’ to sourcing
beautiful beads, creating jewellery, sharing their extensive ‘how-to’ knowledge, and building two much-loved businesses, Marius and Rose (pictured left) were ready for a sea change.
Their passion, however, lives on – online, for now.
