If you fancy wearing a piece of antiquity or have a desire to create a piece of jewellery seeped in history – we believe that we have something which will be of interest to you.

We have a small collection of ancient Roman period glass beads alleged to be at least 1000 years old.

They have been worked and shaped into small cylinders and barrels – some that are inscribed with simple designs.

And because of their age – and because they’re not mass produced, you can expect a few imperfections such as chips and cracks.

This collection was unearthed at a historical excavation site in Nimruz province, in south-eastern Afghanistan at the end of the 20th Century AD.

All contain a 1-1.5mm threading hole and would make the perfect ingredients for artisans with a bent for creating amazing tribal jewellery.

No question about it, these one-of-a-kind pieces, mixed with spacer beads would work well in a necklace, or a pair of awe-inspiring earrings or even a bracelet.

Colours which could work well with these little treasures include the greens of turquoise and amazonite, the gold and browns of topaz and amber, the blood red coral and Siam, the jet black of Algerian onyx and certainly the silver colour of tempered white metal or sterling silver.

Although all the Roman period glass beads in this collection vary in size, thickness and texture, they work out at $3.00 each and weigh in at approximately 21 grams.

The accompanying photos illustrate exactly what you will receive.
