Known as glass rocailles (French for ‘little stones’ and also referred to as seed beads) would, without doubt, enhance a host of jewellery-making projects.
Because of the uniqueness of this particular cut, the beads attract light and shimmer on costume outfits and jewellery.
They are generally regarded as staple bread and butter ingredients for jewellery construction and wildly used in embroidery work.

The seed beads come in a host of colours and a variety of finishes.
The 10 colours in this mixed collection are topaz, green, blue, white, aquamarine, barley, amethyst, lime, berry, and charcoal, while bead finishes include opaque, iridescent, metallic, iris, silver-lined, translucent, matt, lustre, pearl, and satin.
These tiny glass beads which originated in Europe thousands of years ago, come with a generous 0.9mm hole capable of accommodating many threading materials including tigertail, craftline, cotton bead thread, or plain old fishing line.
In recent times seed beads are now being manufactured in India, Japan, China, and Taiwan, however, the quality, the finish, and the colours are inferior compared to their European counterparts (with the exception of Japan, not unlike the beadmakers of Czechoslovakia, have been able to master the essential manufacturing skills required to manufacture these perfect ‘little stones’.
