Himalayan Artistry – Tibet
In this collection of six 20-24mm handmade Tibetan amber-like copal oval beads, contain a traditional end capping of hammered sterling silver with an attractive embossed floral design. (Copal is the name given to tree resin).
Tribal and ethnic in every sense, these handmade beads have been crafted by the nomadic people from Tibet – a group native to the high altitude regions of the Himalayas.
And there’s no question you can have a lot of fun with these beads which provide lots of potential for creativity for those artisans with a bent for creating amazing Tibetan-inspired ethnic style or statement jewellery – items such as necklaces, bracelets or an ankle bangle.
Over the years, the beads have been used as currency when trading for goods.
They are also used to massage areas of the body that need rejuvenating, healing and loving. Wearing a copal amber charm provides protection and enhances the energy system.
The six beads in this collection weigh in at about 22 grams and cost $4.00 each.
All our Tibetan beads contain a decent 2-3mm top-drill hole which is suitable for threading with round leather, Tigertail or craftline (similar to fishing line).
The accompanying photos illustrate what to expect in your order, while some images have been enlarged to show detail.
Please also bear in mind many of these beads are not new, nor have they been mass produced. They are individually hand-made and contain age-worn imperfections.
