Rose’s jewellery tells a story: For more than 20 years, Rose has been designing and handcrafting exceptional jewellery, drawing inspiration from her Canadian Indigenous heritage, her travels and the rich cultural diversity of the people she encountered along the way.
During the years Rose and her husband, Marius, owned two of Western Australia’s best-known bead shops in Broome and Margaret River, she enjoyed an almost endless source of inspiration and extraordinary materials. While Marius travelled in search of beads from around the world, Rose transformed these remarkable finds into distinctive pieces of wearable art.
Her collection and designs drew on an extraordinary variety of materials, colours and textures: unusual beads and stones from the tribal regions of Afghanistan and Nepal; exquisite beads from Europe, India and Indonesia; handmade beads from Africa; and rare, centuries-old trade beads from Venice.
Each piece Rose creates is unique - a genuine one-of-a-kind creation, reflecting her own artistic vision and the influences of her Indigenous Canadian roots, her travels and the many fascinating people she met through the couple’s shops.
Her designs bring together an exceptional array of materials, from semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli, malachite, turquoise and amethyst to natural elements including coral, pearl shell, bone, wood and metal. Each component is carefully selected and brought together to create jewellery rich in character, colour, texture and cultural influence.
More than adornment, Rose’s jewellery tells a story: a meeting of cultures, traditions and natural beauty, expressed through the hands of an artist whose work is as individual as the materials she uses.
